The annual National Open Data Conference is designed to bring together the Open Data community in order to learn, share, plan and collaborate on the future of open data in Ireland. The conferences aim to showcase how open data is being utilised by business, citizens and policy makers to inform amd improve services for all.
This conference is open to everyone, those who wish to learn more about Open Data, those working in the area of Open Data or with data in general.
The Open Data Unit at the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform with the support of Derilinx run the Open Data Conference each year.

The 2021 conference was focused on the theme of “The Importance of Data Quality – How publishing interoperable, harmonised data can directly benefit its use and impact.” We heard from practitioners who are applying data standards, validation and quality monitoring to improve the reusablity of their data. There were also be speakers from the user community, including businesses and individuals who are using this data, who shared their experiences and the challenges that still remain.
The 2020 conference was focused on the theme of “The journey from Open Data Publication to Impact – How the publication, reporting and re-use of data enables the delivery of improved public service.”
The conference included an opening from Minister Ossian Smyth, Minister of State for Public Procurement and eGovernment and contributions from renowned International Speakers who shared their perspective on best practice and the future of Open Data. It also included testimonials from local open data publishers and open data re-users, putting powerful and practical perspectives on how to progress the journey for publication to tangible impact.
