The winners of the 2022/23 Open Data Engagement Fund have been announced. Six successful applicants will receive funding of €18,100 to support their projects and research promoting the reuse of open data on the national Open Data.
New dates for Open Data training have been announced for early 2023 and are available to Public Sector employees. Your organisation can book individual or group training courses via the Training Framework organised by the Open Data Unit in cooperation with the Office of Government Procurement (OGP). The event was opened by Assistant Secretary Marianne Cassidy (Public Service Reform and Delivery, Dept. Public Expenditure and Reform), followed by a series of national and international speakers that have developed Open Data initiatives in the area of sport and recreation linked to health and wellbeing.

The conference was opened by Minister of State, Ossian Smyth, TD and very well attended with over 300 people logging in remotely. The keynote speaker was Stefaan Verhulst, cofounder of GovLab in New York, his topic was ‘Towards a Purpose and Question-driven Open Data Ecosystem’.

Ireland continues to be ranked amongst Open Data 'trend-setters' in the 8th EU Open Data Maturity Report published in December, 2022. This report assesses the level of open data maturity across Europe and Ireland ranked in 4th place overall closely behind France, Ukraine and Poland. Ireland scored a total of 95% across the 4 dimensions measured: policy, impact, portal, and quality.
