Our next Open Data Strategy

9 June 2022

Join us for a series of interactive workshops in June and July 2022 and have your say on the future of the Open Data Strategy.

Ireland’s first Open Data Strategy has guided the creation and development of Open Data for the last 5 years and now it is time for us to create a new strategy to take account of all that has been achieved so far, the new EU Directive on Open Data and what we want to achieve now.  From 2017 to 2020, Ireland was number 1 in the EU for Open Data maturity and we have maintained our position in the trendsetters groups since then.  This new strategy looks to build on this success and improve on the ways in which we manage, access and reuse our data.

To understand what is needed for this next phase, the Open Data Unit in the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform is organising a series of Town Hall events to start the conversation about what we need to include in our new Open Data Strategy.  These will include an introduction to Open Data, examples of Open Data in action in Ireland, a presentation of the current activities and workshops to gather the views of participants on open data.

There will be 3 in-person Town Hall events, in Cork, Galway and Dublin and 2 online ones, to facilitate those unable to attend in person.  The events are open to all and everyone with an interest in the uses of our data is encouraged to attend.

The information received at these workshops will be used to shape the future of the Open Data Strategy, come along and have your say. Places are limited for these workshops so click on the link below to secure your place.
