The Open Data portal now includes a number of Impact Stories. The goal of the Impact Stories feature is to give examples of current use of open data while also telling a story with the data and in doing so directly demonstrating the impact of open data.
Ireland continues to be ranked amongst Open Data 'trend-setters' in the 6th EU Open Data Maturity Report published in December, 2020. This report assesses the level of open data maturity across Europe and Ireland ranked in 4th place overall behind Denmark, Spain and France. Ireland scored a total of 92/100 across the 4 dimensions measured: policy, impact, portal, and quality.

An annual Open Data Engagement Fund, which provides support towards promoting the reuse of open data on the national Open Data portal is in place and provides funding towards the development of open data projects or research. The fund for 2020 is now closed and the winners have been notified. A list of the winning projects is now available on the portal here.
An Open Data Strategy for 2017-2022 was published in July 2017. The goal is for Ireland to become a leader in Open Data and to create an environment where the economic, social and democratic benefits of Open Data are recognised and realised.
