Portal nominated for World Summit Award

The Open Data Unit are delighted to learn that the national portal, data.gov.ie had been nominated as best national digital solution for Ireland for the international World Summit Awards (WSA). The World Summit Awards are a global initiative selecting digital innovation making positive impact on society. With this nomination data.gov.ie qualifies for evaluation among over 400 international projects by the WSA Jury in November 2018.  The national portal was subsequently selected as the best in their respective category and made it on the shortlist 2018.   The  shortlisted projects were reviewed by the WSA Grand Jury in Accra in November 2018 and regretfully the portal was not selected as a winner.

The World Summit Award is a global initiative within the framework of the United Nations World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS). WSA is the only ICT event worldwide, that reaches the mobile community in over 180 countries. WSA highlights digital content improving society and focusses on local content with global relevance.
