Potential Use	The search tools on the HIA's website are very limited, and do not support many citizens to search for the plan that best meets their needs needs. The website only allows a user to compare three plans on screen at any one time. Similarly it only allows the user to print the details of three plans when comparing them. It would be possible to help citizens choose the most appropriate plan for them if the full dataset was open and accessible.

  If the health insurance dataset is not defacto open then please provide consumers with greater choice in narrowing down their selections on the HIA comparison tool. Narrowing down based on price and a few other attributes is not very helpful when faced with silly numbers of policies.

  HIA advise (23/11/17) that they are not in a position to release a download of plans in open format – the download would represent a snapshot in time and would quickly go out of date, due to price changes or new plans etc. The HIA advise that they are currently updating their website to make it more consumer friendly.
