The Seabird 2000 dataset is a full census of all of the breeding seabirds in Britain and Ireland between 1999 and 2003. This dataset contains only the Irish data, which is a subset of the larger British and Irish database.

Geographic Coverage: The island of Ireland and its off-shore islands.

Temporal Coverage: 1994-2003, with the vast majority of records from 1998-2003.

Provenance information Data Quality is high. Data were collected by skilled volunteers and all data were validated. Data Capture Method: The data was gathered by over 1000 surveyors mainly between the years 1999 and 2003 from both coastal and inland colonies Data Capture Purpose: The main objectives of the survey were: to obtain distribution and population information for all 25 species of seabird that regularly breed in Britain and Ireland and to get baseline figures for those species that have been surveyed poorly up to now.
