Under regulatory arrangements approved by the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) ESB’s licensed functions as the owner of the transmission and distribution electricity networks in Ireland (Transmission Asset Owner and Distribution Asset Owner) are carried out by ESB staff assigned to ESB Networks business unit, managed by ESB Networks DAC (an ESB subsidiary company). The ESB Networks business unit also carries out the functions of ESB Networks DAC as the licensed Distribution System Operator.
