Rátáil oscailteachta:

This shows the urban areas where waste water discharges were a contributing factor to the poor classification of the bathing waters, as identified in the EPA’s annual Bathing Water Quality in Ireland Report. When bathing waters are classified as poor it means that there is a risk of periodic pollution, with the potential to cause illness such as skin rash and stomach upset.

Further information about Urban Areas impacting on bathing waters can be found in the EPA’s Annual Urban Waste Water Report on the EPA website – www.epa.ie

Eolas Dualfhoinse The Bathing Water Quality Regulations, 2008 (S.I. No. 79 of 2008) set specific standards to be achieved for bathing water quality to reduce the risk to bathers from bacterial pollution. This dataset shows the agglomerations (towns/cities) with a population equivalent of over 500 where waste water discharges were a contributing factor to the poor classification of the bathing waters, as identified in the EPAs annual Bathing Water Quality in Ireland Report. An agglomeration is an area where the population and/or economic activities are sufficiently concentrated for urban waste water to be collected and conducted to an urban waste water treatment plant or to a final discharge point. The information is supplied by the Local Authorities to the EPA on an annual basis. The table attributes contain the plant name, the plant id and EPA reg code if applicable.
