Eolas Dualfhoinse | The EPA receives relevant data from State bodies and other organisations which is then used to develop the emission projections. For example, energy forecasts are provided by Ireland’s Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland. Energy forecasts are developed using macroeconomic assumptions provided by the Economic and Social Research Institute. Forecasted activity data for the agriculture sector (animal numbers, crop areas and fertiliser use) are provided by Teagasc. Following receipt of this data, the EPA carries out further data processing and calculations (e.g. use of emission factors) to determine the greenhouse gas emission projection estimates. The data processing involves QA/QC checks. |
