In some areas the land adjoining scenic routes can have relatively limited capacity ( environmentally and in terms of scenic amenity) to accommodated individual houses in significant numbers. Application for development along scenic routes are subject to policy to protect sensitive areas from inappropriate development and to ensure that development takes into consideration the effects on visual amenity.
