Provenance information | This polygon shapefile contains habitat information based on: - dedicated field surveys for the Saltmarsh Monitoring Project 2006-2008, - field surveys carried out for other projects, mainly the Coastal Monitoring Project 2004-2006 and - a desktop survey mapping general saltmarsh vegetation. The initial desktop survey was used to prepare a GIS resource that mapped the entire identifiable saltmarsh habitat in Ireland. It was then used to estimate the national distribution and range of each Annex I saltmarsh habitat in Ireland and was also used to estimate total areas for each of these habitats. This was then updated at the end of fieldwork (2007-2008) to include more accurate ground-truthed habitats from all of the newly surveyed sites. |
