Provenance information | Surveys carried out by Quercus contractors and NPWS staff. Quality control and training was an important part of the survey methodology. Data is of a high quality. Data Capture Method: Full details of the data capture methodology is available in NPWS IWM No. 30. Night counts were made from set points along 1km transects, in 691 1km squares across Ireland. Incidental records made by surveyors during the period of the survey also captured. Data Capture Purpose: The survey was carried out to establish the current and historical status, and estimate population sizes, and to formulate recommendations for the species monitoring. Original Format: Data imported into Recorder 6 from MS Excel files. |
