Public online consultation on the review of the PSI Directive

In preparation of the review of the Re-Use of Public Service Information (PSI) Directive, the European Commission has launched a public online consultation. It seeks views on how to improve accessibility and re-use of public and publicly funded data, and also considers access to and use of privately held data of public interest.

This consultation is divided into three parts:

  1. The first part concerns the evaluation of the implementation and functioning of the current EU legislative framework on the re-use of government data.
  2. The second part looks into the possible improvements of this framework for the future.
  3. The third part reflects the current discussion on the possibility to allow public sector bodies to access and use privately held data, whenever this would be justified by public interest considerations.

All interested parties, including governments, public sector data holders and users, commercial and non-commercial re-users, experts and academics as well as citizens are invited to share their views via the dedicated EU consultation portal until 12 December 2017.
