According to the SEAI, the wind farm dataset is based on quarterly data published by Eirgrid and ESB Networks on grid connected wind farms. SEAI update the data annually with an update due before the end of 2020. The layer is currently available as a web service at
https://gis.seai.ie/server/rest/services/SEAI_Services/WindFarms/MapServer
and may be available in other formats in the future. In the meantime please contact epssu@seai.ie for a copy of the latest data in Excel format.

Apologies for not including this, but the units GUID where possible would be great also.

Hello,
Ireland's energy landscape has changed since these data were collected. Is it possible to check if this dataset is complete as of September 2020? If so, is it possible to provide a more direct download option? Shapefiles / geojson/ csv etc.
Many thanks to all involved, Adam

Some additional information received from the SEAI (first dataset). The locations of wind farms in Ireland are available as a layer within the SEAI Wind Atlas http://maps.seai.ie/wind/ . The Wind Atlas is hosted in the ArcGIS environment and all ArcGIS web services conform to an open published specification. Furthermore, the SEAI web services conform to the GeoServices REST specification, to the KML Specification and to the OGC (WMS, WMTS) series. Any GIS that can use REST or OGC services can consume these data. The underlying dataset is accessible to those accessing the map within ArcGIS and other proprietary and open source GIS platform environments, and is therefore inherently in the public domain. Please note that SEAI cannot guarantee the precise accuracy of the data, as they are obtained from public domain sources provided by the relevant statutory bodies and not through the exercise of any statutory power that might enable SEAI to mandate data accuracy.

Thanks for the update Marian. Was there information provided in relation to the second dataset? Did they say no to releasing that info or just that it will follow on at an even later date?

SEAI will not be in a position to progress action on this request until the second half of the year due to resource constraints. At this stage they consider that they may be in a position to make the first dataset available as open data.
