Potential Use | These type of datasets are used for a variety of environmental applications, for example modelling watersheds of river catchments, archaeological investigations, landscape modelling (e.g. landslides). The wide variety of uses mean it could potentially be beneficial for many areas of research and applied land management. However, the cost of purchasing such datasets can be prohibitively expensive. The data is freely available on the Northern Ireland open data portal for select river basins. |

OSI indicate that they do not currently have plans to release the Lidar data openly. They do plan to openly release ungeneralised and linked boundary data in support of the latest Census data which will be launched soon. Open Data Unit 06/04/2017
