Openness rating:

Seascape effects of wind turbines up to 15km from shoreline are downloadable as GIS shapefiles. SEAI commissioned a Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), completed in 2010, to inform policy-making in the Offshore Renewable Energy Development Plan (OREDP). One set of SEA evaluations was seascape assessments. In 2014 the OREDP was published. (References to both reports below).A zipped collection of shapefiles in spatial reference system WGS 84 (EPSG:4326) is downloadable below. The shapefiles assign category values of seascape effects around the Irish coast (excl. N. Ireland). Appendices in SEA Volume 4 describe these category values in detail (reference below). All SEA volumes are accessible by using the search bar in SEAI's website ( Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) offers wind-energy data in its Wind Atlas, a digital map of Ireland's wind energy resource ( SEAI's wind-energy datasets assist wind energy planners, developers and policy makers.
