Balance sheet (assets and liabilities) data for insurance corporations resident in Ireland (ESA 2010 sector S128).
S128 consists of financial corporations that principally engage in financial intermediation as a consequence of the pooling of risks mainly in the form of direct insurance or reinsurance.
In Ireland, for the purposes of these statistics, the Irish headquartered insurance corporation sector (home approach) is adjusted to exclude branches of Irish insurance corporations operating in the EEA and to include branches of EEA insurance corporations operating in Ireland (host approach). Third country branches and FPS activities of Irish insurance corporations remain included.
S128 does not include pension fund entities but may provide insurance to the pension fund sector or pension entitlements directly to the household sector (e.g. Pillar 3)
