Data date: 2004-2006
Description: Shapefile with around 6700 polygons, result of - merging of 133 single shapefiles provided by Tim Ryle and - joining the resulting file which contains 21 different habitat types with a key to identify Annex 1 Habitat types. Annex 1 codes are stored in column . Definition queries were run on this file to extract the polygons for the following Annex 1 Habitat types: - 2110 Embryonic shifting dunes - 2120 Shifting dunes along the shoreline with Ammophila arenaria (''white dunes'') - 2130 Fixed coastal dunes with herbaceous vegetation (''grey dunes'') - 2140 Decalcified fixed dunes with Empetrum nigrum - 2150 Atlantic decalcified fixed dunes (Calluno-Ulicetea) - 2170 Dunes with Salix repens ssp argentea (Salicion arenariae)
Those were then overlayed with 10km Irish National Grid to derive distribution files uploaded to EU.
Other Annex1 habitats contained in the file are: - 1210 Annual vegetation of drift lines - 1220 Perennial vegetation of stony banks - 2190 Humid dune slacks - 21A0 Machairs
This shapefile has been used for the production of the habitat’s distribution and range maps for the 2007 Conservation Assessments (according to the EU Habitats directive).
