Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures represents the first overarching national children’s policy framework covering the age ranges spanning children and young people (0 – 24 years). It adopts a whole of Government approach and will be underpinned by a number of constituent strategies in the areas of early years, youth and participation.

The BOBF indicator set presented here today is developed to align to the five national outcomes of BOBF and specifically as a resource to support the ongoing implementation of BOBF and its constituent strategies.

The report presents the Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures Indicator set, along with recent high-level summary data on each indicator, as well as detailed information on each data source. The indicator set represents a significant resource to support the policy framework and the work of Government Departments and others involved in the implementation of BOBF. It provides a broad picture of: · How children and young people in Ireland are faring in terms of how active and healthy they are · The extent to which they are achieving their full potential in learning and development · How safe and protected they are from harm · How economically secure they are · How connected, respected and engaged they are in society.
