This illustrates the existence or planned presence of marine renewable energy sites (including wind farm authorisations, wave and tidal energy test locations) in Irish waters. This is based upon formal applications submitted to the foreshore licence application office as part of work undertaken in the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage (DHLGH) for use in Ireland's National Marine Planning Framework (NMPF) in 2021. To show the locations of areas where wave energy, wind turbines and other ocean renewable energy projects have been authorised or are under investigation in Irish waters.
