This dataset contains a coverage for all mapped and digitised glacial trimline (ice free)areas, which were not glaciated during the last glaciation, for the island of Ireland.

The map forms part of the GSI Quaternary Map series. Data recorded on the maps includes the locations of glacial trimlines, by their outlines. Other data include the county where the trimline occurs, the minimum altitude of ice, the digitised altitude, reference, name of he nunatak, and area which was ice free.

The map together with the catalogue constitute the complete dataset.

Provenance information 1. Filenames: MOUNTAIN_GLACIATION_TRIMLINES.shp Date (21/11/2013) Originator - Quaternary & Geotechnical Section, Geological Survey of Ireland. Nature of change/update to data - There is an ongoing programme of digitizing all archival Quaternary data held by the GSI. Methodology - The trimline features have been compiled from a variety of sources, including academic papers, and the feature outlines were then drawn on OSi Colour Aerial Photography. Description This dataset is a coverage of mapped and digitized Mountain Glaciation Trimlines landforms for Ireland. The dataset forms part of the GSI Quaternary Map series. The Geomorphology dataset originally comprised individual feature layers that were subsequently merged from 25 single feature layers to 9 sub-groups, Mountain Glaciation Trimlines is one of the subgroups. The data layer comprises the following geomorphological features: The data layer is a polygon feature in an ESRI File Geodatabase supported by attribute identification and symbolized in ArcMap using the Quaternary master style file ( Quat_Geomorphology_Master.style) and a layer file MOUNTAIN GLACIATION (.lyr). ources Used as input Data for the Change /update.- No revision is sanctioned as of 21/11/2013.
