GSI EPOS Boreholes dataset

Openness rating:
Reason: Format field "WMS" receives score: 3.
★★★★★  Linked data - data URIs and linked to other data (e.g. RDF)
★★★★☆  Linkable data - served at URIs (e.g. RDF)
★★★☆☆  Structured data in open format (e.g. CSV)

Science and Technology

The project aims to capture and make available combined Geotechnical, Bedrock, and Groundwater borehole data held by Geological Survey Ireland with the aim to continually improve and update the service as more data becomes available. Data focuses on boreholes drilled for both industry and scientific purposes including geotechnical investigations, groundwater studies and extensive mineral exploration/mining activity across the Republic of Ireland. Geochemical and geophysical measurements of substrate, rock and groundwater will also be captured and served where available. A national database of boreholes including locational and stratigraphic information. Boreholes must have a locality number to be included in this database; i.e. a grid coordinate must exist for every entry. Where core exists for a given borehole it is linked to the borehole by way of the unique locality number. Boreholes known to open file and boreholes unrecorded in open file are included. The number of records entered so far: 7.549. Number of records remaining to be added from open file.
